What foundation should you use between seasons?

Uhhhh, foundation between seasons. Am I right?! Summer is easy because you tend to go for lighter coverage, matte foundation. And then, winter? Well it’s the opposite, isn’t it? But in between seasons, what are you supposed to do when half your face is still in summer mode and the other half is already hunkering down for winter? What foundation should you use during Autumn and Spring? I’m here to tell you!

Firstly, you want to work out what your products are.
This is what I currently use during the main seasons and why…

Clinique BIY drops and a couple of the moisturisers I use it with.

Light coverage: Clinique BIY – Blend It Yourself pigment drops
Why? Add this to your favourite moisturiser and control the coverage. In summer, I use one to two drops for light (think BB cream) to medium coverage, but you could also do 3 drops and get a gorgeous summery full coverage.

Full coverage: Estee Lauder Double Wear Light
Why? This is the summer/lighter version of the classic Double Wear. So you get an all-day stay without the heaviness that can go along with a full coverage, not-going-anywhere foundation.

The Estee Lauder Double Wear range – In Bone and 0.5 intensity.

Light coverage: Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude cushion stick radiant makeup
Why? This is the lightest of the Double Wear range, and features a cushion applicator that makes this great for everyday use and touch ups.

Full coverage: Estee Lauder Double Wear
Why? An absolute cult classic and a favourite in the beauty blogger world, this product gives you insane coverage and doesn’t move at all. You can really trust this one when you need it!

… But what about during Autumn and Spring?

Easy solution! You simply take your pick of each season and blend where it’s needed the most. What do I mean by this? Well, my cheeks in Autumn can get a bit dry, so I’m going to use a summer light coverage on them so they can breathe. But my nose? Oh that’s RED from it being chilly, so I use one of my winter foundations for my T-zone. Come Spring time, most of my skin is still in winter mode trying to get in as much moisture as possible, but by the afternoon when it’s hot and sticky give me all the matte (summer) foundation for my T-zone, so help me god.

Your face can do funny things between seasons, so it’s all about assessing it and using a couple of different products that will give you the exact results you’re after every time – custom blended just for you.

I have a wedding this May where I’m a bridesmaid, so I’ll be using a full coverage foundation for the day. Using Estee Lauder (my summer full coverage) as a base, then adding Estee Lauder Double Wear to my t-zone and blending it all in flawlessly. This coverage ensures my skin can continue breathing, while offering a solid base that will not melt or move through the day. Boom!

Thanks to Clinique and Estee Lauder for gifting these products. They have been trialed and tested, and above is my honest opinion and using of them.
